The project in brief.

Client:
Göttingen University Medical Center
Location:
Göttingen
Realization:
10/2017 – 10/2017
Construction task:
Design as heavy-duty double floor, special ventilation technology under laboratory conditions

In cooperation with the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) received funding from the state of Lower Saxony for a research building that was occupied in 2016. This building unites research groups from both institutions that are dedicated to basic research on neurodegenerative diseases as well as research into the fundamentals for new therapies against Alzheimer's and other diseases of the nervous system.

On the UMG side, innovative imaging techniques are a major focus. Thus, in the course of the initial installation, the building was equipped with several large-scale research devices, one of which is a mass spectrometer, NanoSIMS 50L. This instrument has very high requirements for its installation environment. Part of these requirements is due, for example, to the high dead weight of about 2.6 tons. The final position of the mass spectrometer has been on a vibration-isolating table platform in the center of the room, so that the raised floor had to withstand a high load during installation.

In addition, the installation of the required room air technology was planned in the raised floor. The air flow is guided directly around the unit from bottom to top in order to directly dissipate the heat generated at the unit and thus to be able to keep the ambient temperature almost constant. The raised floor panels were therefore designed with perforated steel plates in this zone. To direct the supply air, for example, four control zones made of gypsum fiberboard were produced underneath the raised floor panels and various ventilation technology elements were accommodated so that the floor construction met the required laboratory conditions after completion.

The company goracon systemtechnik GmbH proved to be very competent and committed during the planning as well as the execution phase in order to meet the requirements of the project. The execution was carried out on schedule and any agreements were implemented in a trustworthy manner. The project was carried out to our complete satisfaction and we can furthermore attest the contractor an equal reliability."
